Learning Module 1.
Course Overview and History of Remote Sensing
Introduction
The goal of this introductory course in remote sensing is to gain an understanding of the concepts that are fundamental to remote sensing. Some of the specific objectives of this course include: understanding the nature of electromagnetic radiation, the applications radiation in remote sensing systems, understanding the basic characteristics of different remote sensing system, particularly aerial photography (black and white, color, infrared, and color infrared), multispectral scanners, thermal, and other systems including Radar, and LiDAR systems. We will also be acquiring image processing and analysis skills using ArcGIS and ENVI image processing software and will explore about various remote sensing applications.
