ABOUT
This website was created by Samantha Ureel and Whitney Newcomb for an advanced GIS course at Humboldt State University in the fall
semester of 2016. After managing large datasets regarding the Eel River for professor James Graham and graduate student Emily Cooper
over the previous summer, Samantha and Whitney went on to create this informational website.
The main purpose of this website is to provide a reliable source of access information for conducting stream habitat surveys
in the upper Mainstem Eel River study site.
A portion of this website was created to showcase a report by Gordon S. Becker and Isabelle J. Reining of the California State
Coastal Conservancy, which maps historical and current presence of steelhead trout on the Eel River and its tributaries. The
report was beautifully done and this is our way of showing appreciation for such dedicated work. We would like to thank Darren
Mierau at CalTrout for bringing this paper to our attention.
