Hi everyone! I have been working with maps since I was a kid and GIS for over 15 years. I love teaching, especially GIS and related topics. I'll share more in our first lecture session.

• We will not cover everything you need to know to be successful
• We will cover the basics and how to learn what you need to know to be successful

To Be Successful

We will do everything I can to make this class interesting and provide content that will help you in your future. If you want to get a good grade in this class, and not have to put in excessive time, you'll need to:

• Attend class and lab and be on time
• Be present in class and lab (i.e. no texting)
• Turn in assignments on time
• Start assignments early so you can get help
• Ask for help within 20 minutes of getting stuck
• Look ahead on the schedule and do the homework so you're ready for discussions (and quizzes)

What do you Need From Me?

Take 5 minutes with 4-5 of your neighbors and come up with the four most important things that we can do to help you learn GIS faster and with less time struggling. I remember being a student know this can vary from issues back at home to computer access, from learning disabilities to finding time and space to study. There are a lot of resources here and I'll help you find what you need in any way I can.
