Getting Started
Navigate to WordPress.com in FireFox. WordPress.com does not support Chrome well (note: this appears to have changed recently).
Join WordPress.com and you should arrive at a web page to create a new site
The videos below are for the version of WordPress that is currently on the WordPress.com website. If you use a different version of WordPress, or a theme that is different from the one used in the videos, the overall interface will be similar but the specific features may be different:
WordPress.com tends to change their website each year so we'll walk through the first few pages together in lab. Below are some tips.
Stay with the defaults for now
Stick with the free options until you know you need the additional features
Don't worry too much about the domain name at this point as you can change it later
There are lots of tutorials on the Web for WordPress. Feel free to check them out but remember that there are many versions of WordPress so try to find tutorials that match your version. The current version of WordPress is 5.5.x.
